About BJDW

Launched with a pilot effort in 2009, Beijing Design Week is a citywide event co-hosted by the Municipal Government of Beijing, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science & Technology, and the Ministry of Culture to nurture a culture of design in a Chinese context. Since 2011, Beijing Design Week has taken place from the end of September through the October National Holiday. Featuring seven key sections - Opening Ceremony, Design Awards, Design Market, Smart City, Design Talent, Guest City and Design Hop, BJDW is a catalyst and incubator for Chinese and international designers, institutions, and organizations to meet and share forward-looking visions. BJDW offers an expansive overview of China's transforming design landscape, while serving as a laboratory for innovative perspectives from industry and academia that inspire and shape contemporary design discourse and practice.
