The Magic Horse

This year is the year of the horse in the Chinese zodiac. Thus, the icon of Barcelona’s participation at Beijing Design Week will be The Magic Horse.

The horse from the Antigua i Barbuda theatre company is a vibrant and mobile sculpture, intimately linked with street art and the tradition of parades and cavalcades in Barcelona and linked at the same time to the imagery of the Chinese zodiac. It was created by Jordà Ferré and Oscar de Paz. Its presentation in Beijing will be the first time it is shown internationally.

The Magic Horse will be exhibited in Beijing from September 21st until October 3rd and it combines various exhibition formats: stationary and itinerant accompanied by music and dance. In both modalities, the horse gallops in continuous mechanical movement. In the itinerant format, the horse will be accompanied by two musicians and a dancer and will be transported by 10 local volunteers.

The Magic Horse be exhibited all day in stationary format in the Sanlitun Taikooli, UNIQLO Square from Sunday, September 21st to September 24th. The official opening of Beijing Design Week will take place on September 26th at 5:00p.m. at the China Millenium Monument in 79 Tank, with an itinerant show. On September 27th at 9:00p.m. the opening of the Barcelona pavilion will take place with an itinerant music and dance concert throughout 751 D·PARK.

From September 29th to October 3rd it will be on stationary display from 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will tour the streets of 751 D·PARK. with a music and dance show at 1:00 p.m. and again at 4:00p.m.
